2019 RECIPIENT

Name: TIMOTHY PHILLIPS

School:BAYLOR LAW SCOOL

Parents: Chris & Sherri Phillips, Angleton, Texas

In 2019, the STLA/Dr. Joyce Kimble Scholarship was presented to two very talented and inspiring young men in our association.

Our first recipient for 2019 is Timothy Phillips. This impressive 25-year-old is well on his way to having a strong and purposeful career. Timothy completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin in December 2016, where he was on the Dean’s List during his last two years. During that time he also dedicated a couple of summers to doing Christian Missionary work in Southeast Asia.

As an under-graduate at UT Austin, he developed an interest in law and applied to law school. At the time of this award, he is completing the first year of his three-year journey to completing his JD at Baylor Law School in Waco.

Described by hs professors there as being extremely intelligent, hard working, persistent, and possessing an uncommonly witty sense of humor – Timothy’s goal upon graduation from law school is to first clerk for a District Judge for a few years and, eventually, enter law practice working as an appelate attorney.

Timothy is also no strager to the Texas Longhorn Youth Show circuit. He was an instrumental part of Steven Head’s show team in Angelton during his high-school years and became his “right-hand-man” helping to make sure everything concerning that show group ran smoothly and efficiently as they travelled to various shows across the state.

Timothy was also honored as one of our Youth Scholarship Program winners in 2012.

You can learn more about Timothy Phillips and his engaging insights on Texas Longhorn cattle by reading his application essay.
