Buy You Raffle Tickets at Upcoming STLA Events

STLA member, Patsy Davidson of Thorndale and her high-school classmate, Fran Carr of New Sweden, have collaborated for the third year in a row to craft and donate a beautiful quilt to help raise funds for STLA’s Youth Scholarship Program.

See the 2017 "Lone Star" Quilt on display for the first time during the Winter Festival Weekend activities at Edna, Texas on December 9-11, 2016 and buy your raffle tickets.

Help Support the STLA Youth Scholarship Fund.
Intricately stitched with the iconic shapes of Longhorns and Texas stars, the 2017 quilt was designed and sewn by Fran Carr and depicts the many special things about our Lone Star State. It is twin-bed size and boasts vivid colors of deep blue, reds, and sky blue with an inset pictorial depicting "Texas Our Texas."

The quilt will be on display at various STLA events over the next several months so everyone will have a number of opportunities to buy chances to win. The drawing for the winning raffle ticket will occur as part of the STLA Rockdale Show in April 2017.

STLA will kick off the fundraising raffle for the quilt at the upcoming Winter Festival Show weekend in Edna, Texas on December 9-11, 2016.  Clean out those piggy banks and be sure to bring your checkbooks so you can get your raffle tickets in the barrel to win this wonderful décor item and be able to help support the scholarship program at the same time. The quilt will also be on display and tickets will be sold at the various STLA-sponsored shows across central Texas during the spring months.
Raffle tickets will sell for the very affordable price of $1.00 each or 6 chances for $5.00. All proceeds will benefit the STLA Youth Scholarship Program which awards college scholarship monies to qualifying high-school graduates each May.
STLA extends a very heartfelt “Thank You” to Patsy Davidson and Fran Carr for your talents and dedication in creating this wonderful gift to our association and also for helping making this fundraiser an annual event for our very important Youth Scholarship Program.

John Parmley Keith DuBose William Torkildsen, MD
The STLA will once again be well represented in Fort Worth with the recent election of three of its members to serve on the TLBAA Board of Directors. The South Texas Longorn Association has proven over the years to be the source of hard-working and strong business-minded individuals who have earned leadership roles with the TLBAA and represented our breeders and ranchers across the state. These thee directors joined the TLBAA Board at the recent Annual Meeting held on Jan. 17th.

John Parmley from Sommerville, Texas has already served one term with the TLBAA Board and was recently re-elected as an "At Large" Director. John has been the Chair of the New Building Committee and has worked diligently to bring together plans and construction documents for the new TLBAA offices and museum building to be located at the Stockyards area in Fort Worth. John's construction management experince and business background make him a good match for his work on this important project. John has also been elected to serve Treasurer for the TLBAA Board.

Keith DuBose lives and owns his own gas & oil land company in Ben Wheeler, Texas. He is starting his first term on the TLBAA Board and was elected to the position of "At Large" Director also. Keith has many years of business operations experience and will be a strong voice on the board. He is active with affiliates across Texas and the show circuit.

William Torkildsen, MD is from Fayetteville, Texas and has been elected as the new Director for Region 12 (the seat previously held by Steven Zunker over the past several years). A practicing physician and businessman, Bill brings years of service on various medical boards to the table and is well-known across his region of Texas.

Congratulations go out to all three of these gentlemen.
